Michelle Pereira (pronounced Purr-Era) is a dynamic pop/soul/country vocalist and songwriter from just outside Toronto, Ontario, whose voice has drawn comparisons to artists like Sara Bareilles, Adele, and Susan Tedeschi.
After earning a degree in Vocal Jazz and a Music Business certificate, she relocated to Nashville in 2015 to further develop her craft, studying audio engineering under industry leaders including John McBride and the late Mark Rubel.
Immersing herself in Nashville’s Music Row, Michelle has written at major publishing houses such as Warner Music and Universal Music. With support from organizations like the Nashville Songwriters Association International and Song Suffragettes, she secured a performance visa, solidifying her presence in the U.S. music industry. She is also supported by the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, where she contributes to educational and outreach initiatives, bringing live music and songwriting experiences to students and individuals in healthcare and recovery settings.
Her accolades include a feature on the Grand Ole Opry’s 650 AM WSM Radio, selection for the ASCAP GPS program, and winning the Bluebird Cafe Golden Pick Contest in 2021—an honor that led to multiple performances at the iconic venue. She has also received a FACTOR Artist Development grant and had her music featured in the Pureflix film God’s Country Song.
Michelle’s songwriting catalog includes over 1,000 custom songs written through Songfinch, collaborating with clients worldwide as well as notable names like Gabriel Iglesias and Alanna Panday. She has also worked with artists including Tenille Townes, Kalsey Kulyk, and HunterGirl. Her work has contributed to over 1,000,000 Spotify streams across independent releases.
Her single “Worthy” charted on the Canadian iTunes R&B/Soul chart, further highlighting her versatility as both a vocalist and songwriter.
